Amazon Customer Reviews:

Very poor - (1/5)
Far and away the worst Dan Brown book that I have read. The book rambles on with a semi-coherent plot based around Freemasonry. Even the twist in the plot was contrived and poor. Generally Dan Brown's writing is poor but he is saved by the strength of his storylines. This one failed on the plot and writing front and has very little to recommend it.

Not perfect but it entertained me - (4/5)
According to some of the reviews for this book, I am someone that obviously doesn't read very often, a dummie and even have a retarded mind! That does not apply only to myself but to anyone that got some enjoyment from 'The Lost Symbol'. I'm not going to pretend that I'm some great intellect because I'm not, but I'm also not going to pretend that I thought this book was garbage simply to make myself appear more intelligent.

This latest offering isn't perfect by any means. There are too many similaraties to his other books; female sidekick, psycho killer, a long lost mystery waiting to be uncovered. But although I found the ending to be a bit of an anti climax, this was a page turner and it did keep me hooked. It isn't a classic and it isn't as good as The Da Vinci Code but it really is all about personal tastes and I think that Dan Brown has done a fair job and he will get heavily criticised now whatever he writes just because of his enormous success. Not that he should worry!!

The art of plagiarism... - (1/5)
Dan Brown has made a carreeer of plagarising other folks work. I would not mind if he was in fact a decent writer, but the man has no talent whatsoever. Brown's books appeal to those who can only process simple sentences and straightforward plots. Along with Rowling, Brown has to be placed as an example of how hype and celebrity can screw up an art form. They should both be sued, not only for plagarism, but bad writing as well. Terrible stuff. Avoid at all costs.

The Lost Symbol - (5/5)
Fascinating book. I feel it is a lot more interesting than Angels and Demons but that is my personal opinion.

Witty book - (4/5)
I found the book very clever. Was surprised at the end by discovering the true identity of the villain. I must confess I jumped few paragraphs as I found them too descriptive and not adding much to the story. As always, Dan Brown is a very creative writer. My family has several mason members and they were surprised by the description of some of the true 'secret' ideas/rituals. Well, I liked the book and would recommended it.
