This book has everything you want - magic, mystery and that real life sense that it could all happen to you. It's a bit like Harry Potter meets Star wars I guess. In the novel we kearn the magical secrets of the elements and enjoy a fast paced adevnture that will suit readers of all ages. I get the feeling this book is going to be big! Journey into the secret world fo Lore, enjoy comical charcters and the most imaginitive creatures you can think off. A perfect read for teens and adults wanting to recapture that feeling of magic in their lives. Roll on book 2 I loved it. Sales also raise money for the Cytsic Fibrosis Trust.

After reading all reviews on this book, I decided to go for it and see if it did indeed compare to Harry Potter. I'm afraid to say in my opinion it didnt come close ... not nearly!! Thats not to say I didnt enjoy the story, I did and will read the next installment when it makes its appearance. I do have to say that one thing did get to me throughout the book and hindered my enjoyment of it and that was the considerable number of typos throughout. Truly awful, I do hope the next book sorts this out, I felt the need to dig out the highlighter pen and send a proof read copy to the publisher!! On a more positive note, the story was good, fast paced (no boring dull moments to allow the brain fog to take over) and original I liked it!

And this was certainly some journey!!!! I don't really do "science" but my interest was fired by Alex and his adventures. Harry's style of writing is refreshing and sparked my imagination - I have my seat belt fastened and am ready for take off for the next instalment in Book 2.

I have just finished reading this book. People often talk about books being hard to put down but I have never really understood that statement. I like to read, and will generally read most nights, and occassionally I will get so engrossed that I will read a few more chapters than I intended to. But this book was different. I really did get so absorbed that I found it impossible to put down.

I thorougly recommend this read to anybody.

An enthralling adventure from the very first page. I thouroughly enjoyed this imaginative novel, and was gripped following Alex's journey into science and magic.

This is a book that can be enjoyed by all ages, at many different levels. It's all elemental to our dear Dr Hope, and we are left enticed and desperate for news of Volume 2!

If you're like me and love adventure books you'll love this. Full of fantasy and escapism. You don't have to be a child to enjoy this fabulous book - just a big kid! Can't wait for the next installment!
