If you are fascinated by cultures different to your own, as I am, and intrigued by lifestyles beyond your imagination, then this is the book for you. It tells of life in Afghanistan through troubled times through the eyes of the ordinary people there. It is filled with emotion and has you glued to each and every page. It took me just over a day to read it, not being able to put it down for long, only pausing to eat and reluctantly sleep. You become attached to the two female central characters and find yourself heartbroken with them when they face very trying times and yet so hopeful for them as the future brightens for Afghanistan. If you buy only one book this summer, buy this one. |
