I don't like travelling and I never read travel books. Or I didn't until a friend who continually goes on about Peter Kerr's gave me this one for Christmas. I've been converted!
Not just a diary of events, but written like a fast-moving novel and full of spiky humour. The vivid descriptions of places, characters and local cuisine are so realistic that I couldn't help wanting to be there.
I have just ordered the other books in the series - including the prequel, 'Thistle Soup', which I'm told is a must-read in order to fully appreciate the sequels - and I have even booked my first trip to Mallorca!
