| Amazon Editorial Review | Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder - and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. |
| Brilliant! - (5/5) | Saw the film first big mistake! Freaked me out a bit.
Decided to read the book then ... brilliant, I loved the two main characters, the plot, the outcome - everything! The writing was done skillfully and made for easy reading. I still don't know the significance of the dragon tattoo, but have some inkling. I figure maybe if I read it again I will cotton on. It will be an even better read the second time round. |
| the girl with a dragon tattoo - (5/5) | great exiting read any body giving this book 3 or less stars must read disney books, it is hard hitting and violent but not gorey. you must read all three books for a conclusion. |
| Hugely disappointing - (1/5) | It started off extremely boring but I thought it might improve - it didn't, despite me trudging through to the end. So much of it required an editor. As a result it was repetitive, for example constant technical reviews of ibooks, sizes of apartments, rooms, any building - I'm not interested! The book could have been condensed by at least 200 pages making it a faster, if not better, read. Please don't believe the hype. I've read Dan Brown and enjoyed it - at least it was fast moving and a page turner, if not a literary gem. This book is forgettable, boring and way too long. |
| Warning - Hard to put down once you begin - (5/5) | One of the better crime thrillers I have read in a long time. Some books should come with a health warning that they will become addictive and you have to keep reading. It keeps you guessing till the very end and with all the knowledge that readers have these days that is very hard to do. The characters are very well drawn and yet even though it is set in Sweden they are universal and I found myself wanting more so purchased the other two novels to follow.
Highly recommend, great read but be warned I took it on holiday and ended up so hooked one day that everyone went off for the day and I sat in (well it was raining) and read it straight through as couldnt put it down as was so engrossed in the events that were unfolding. Not many books can make you not want to sleep and keep going to the end and this is one of those rare novels that is one to recommend. One warning for those of a santisive nature there are some graphic violent scenes, they fit into the story and work for what is happening but its not to everyone's enjoyment! |
| Excellent, compelling read! - (4/5) | A compelling crime thriller...quite slow to start but well worth the read! Has led me to purchase the following two to discover what happens to the amazing lead character! Brilliant! |
