| How does this fit into the earlier novel in the series? - (2/5) | This book was OK. I just wasn't sure how it fit into the chronology of the 1st book in the series - "The Girl With The Pearl Earring", which I loved. It seemed that the author will struggle to reconcile the two storylines across the centuries? |

| Ummm, what I think of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'? - (5/5) | Hello,
We chose "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" for our book group. It took a little while to get into & I confess I skimmed much of the "technical" finance jargon at the beginning but then I REALLY got into it & loved the book. It was a tense thriller & whodunnit! I'm really looking forward to seeing the film too, although they're rarely as good as the book. It's great there's 2 more books to enjoy, sad that Stieg isn't around to enjoy it. |
| This is simply a fantastic novel. - (5/5) | I think that The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a fantastic novel. Book store owners will be pleased to know that their Top Ten Best-sellers display led me to pick up a copy of Larsson's first novel from a genre I rarely ever venture into. Like many other reviewers of this novel, I also found the first part of the book heavy going but this back story only aided the plot the deeper you read yourself into the twisting storyline. I was soon hooked and immediately ordered the second instalment. Larsson's ability to handle a multitude of plots and characters was formidable. However, I cannot pass up this opportunity of recording my appreciation of the leading character, Lisbeth Salander. Surely she will go down in the history of crime fiction (or maybe all fiction) as being one of the most interesting and complex characters ever to grace the printed page. Sadly, Larsson's marvellous writing talent was too short lived. |
| Fascinating read - (5/5) | The beginning of this book was very hard to get into and the first 40 pages were heavy going but from there on in it is brilliant with engaging characters, a well thought out plot and people you actually cared about.
Cannot wait to start the second book of the trilogy. |
