Amazon Editorial Review
The story of how one council estate lad made good, really very good, and survived -- just about -- to tell the tale!

Amazon Customer Reviews:

A good read, ideal beach book - (5/5)
An entertaining, easy to read book. I have read an unofficial biography about Chris before, and know his story, but this was still a good read.

A number of elements of his life are missing from the book, but when you get to the end, you realise these will be covered in book 2 out in October 2010.

If you like or are interested in Chris, I would recommend. Especially at the price.

Loved it!! - (5/5)
My husband convinced me to buy this book as he figured it would be one that would appeal to us both for our summer holiday read. So glad I listened to him as once I started I couldn't put it down.

The book is so easy to read and the story so inspiring that you can't wait to read what happens next. I never really knew much about Chris Evans before, and now it appears he is a total grafter, totally committed to his work. He will never just accept things as they are, and will constantly strive to improve whatever it is he is working on. Just proving that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything.

Thoroughly recommended.

What a great surprise - (5/5)
I got this book as an after-thought, having already ordered the ones that I really wanted to read. Consequently, it was the last one to get to and what a great surprise it proved. It was really well written in a very readable and engaging way (I loved the top tens and the short chapters) and his natural enthusiasm translates readily into print. The early stories were fascinating in the influence they would exert on later career, and the evolution into the great innovator and personality seems really honest and self-deprecating without becoming insincere. The people with whom he has dealt become alive and accessible (including several famous ones) but he never stoops to mud-slinging - he doesn't need to in order to tell his story. One of the biggest surprises is the reality of it being an unintentional story of a leader and team builder (even being as flawed as we all are). The illumination into the contributions of support staff and trusted colleagues are worth the read alone. Certainly the book of the year for me (I like biogs & autobiogs). The problem is that CE is not for everyone, and pursuading them that the book is better than the image can be tough. It's well worth it; can't wait for book 2.

A bit of an eye-opener - (4/5)
The title for the book is very apt; Chris exposes his real life behind the persona of a constantly entertaining, always on the go media personality. He is surprisingly humble about the extent and nature of his success, but he clearly really has lived much of his life with a frenetic energy. Anyway, it all makes for some really good, even inspirational, anecdotal reading.

Good listen - (4/5)
This is an excellent way to hear about someone's life... by them telling you the story. The audio version is a fun way to hear this interesting story....
