Amazon Editorial Review
Jo Brand tells her story for the first time in the publishing event of the year

Amazon Customer Reviews:

Gently rambling autobigraphy which should have been more anarchic - (3/5)
This is a gently rambling book which comes across well, portraying the real Jo Brand behind her stand-up face.
In common with many comedians, she has a way of using generalisations to describe people combined with cynicism and prejudice without ever upsetting anyone too much.
Most of the stories related are told by Jo in a modest way whilst, at the same time, showing her determination to do what she wants to do.
The story is told in an amusing manner but she has had a fairly ordinary life so it is difficult to make it particularly exciting which is the main downside of the book - a few interesting stories told well but too much "and then I did this" and "then I did that".
Several times in the book, the author moves away from the story to get on her soapbox and give her opinion about something going on. I wanted more of this - I wanted to hear more about what she felt about the world she was living in and less about the actual world.

very dull - (1/5)
this is just about the dullest book I have read in a long time. Boring, pedestrian and mediocre. Compared to Peter Kay's autobiography it is 2 and he is 102, on a scale. Oh and I am a fan of hers too! What a let down.

An Enjoyable Dissapointment - (4/5)
I have always been a fan of Jo Brand, ever since I first indulged in some of her sarcastically entertaining comedy. I bought this book for my main summer holiday read; saving what I thought would be the best for last. Don't panic just yet, I know the introduction sounds bad, but there is more.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy reading it, however was somewhat dissapointed. While there were some moments where I actually did laugh out loud, attracting confused and annoyed glances from my fellow pool-side loungerers, for a comedian I was surprised that a lot of topics wern't tackled with Jo's usual sarcastic manner. Whether or not I had too-higher hopes is up for debate, and I am willing to say that is probably the likely source of my dissapointment upon closing the book. All the same, the fact that I didn't throw the book back into my suitcase and move onto something else is a clear sign that the book had enough going for it, that I loyally returned to it each day. I would reccomend this for fans of Jo Brand, as it was an interesting read, and is one that ticks along nicely. However if you're not a fan, I would definately reccomend to look for something else.

Look back in hunger - (5/5)
Laugh out loud funny in many places, Jo Brand's droll sense of humour shines through. Highly recommended.

Dull and disappointing - (1/5)
I am a fan of Jo Brand and was disappointed at just how boring this was, found myself skipping pages as I went on. Like another reviewer, I felt she was holding back. Her teenage years made the most interesting reading, but overall this was pretty dull.
