Baishakhi, d7jmJ5TL | Leyla thanks so mu - (4/5) | Leyla thanks so much for your kind words about my Moz artlice. Yes, he can be very irritating and negative and politically incorrect and sometimes cruel with some of his comments but there's something different about him emotionally that I find life-enhancing and life-saving in some inexplicable way. I think he does have a vital role to play, even if it's only as a disillusioned commentator on the way things are going on this unhappy planet . He can sound very funny and deeply distressed at the same time desperate humour's always a bonus in the old Top Forty! I believe there have been times when he has genuinely considered taking his own life (his friend Kirtsty MacColl once implied he'd made an attempt in the late 1990s) so, I for one, am really glad he's carrying on. I think there's real joy in certain songs particularly Now My Heart Is Full', maybe In the Future When All's Well' but too often it's the songs of despair that grab the critics' attention. As you imply, his real value is as some sort of leech-gatherer stirring up pop's muddy pool. Cheers! Len |
