Kum Nye is a simple but precise regime that guarantees to significantly increase energy levels, improve fitness and strengthen and tone the body. Based on a system developed in Tibet over thousands of years, this book is the first to bring the techniques to the West as a highly accessible and brilliantly effective package. Kum Nye consists of 8 positions to be held in sequence for up to 2 minutes. Each position is specifically designed to work on different areas of the body, while developing overall strength and flexibility. But, most importantly, these moves will increase energy levels, stamina and vitality. Such is their efficacy that they must not be done before going to sleep! But should be performed first thing as a truly invigorating morning wake up. Unlike any other kind of exercise system this can be mastered by anyone - regardless of age and fitness and, as a trained chiropodist, Wright lays emphasis on the benefits of this technique for people suffering from back pain and old injuries. I purchased this book and the exercises seem good, but there seems much controversy over Stephanie Wright's teacher, Christopher Hansard, which now makes me doubt the authenticiy of the exercises. The Eden Centre no longer exists. Are we being misled?

Exercises for life. - (5/5)
I found this book about three and a half years ago and started the exercises slowly as recommended. The initial attraction for me was that I could do them at home without having to go to a gym or use any special apparatus. Also, I was really self-conscious and wanted to try them in private so I could work at my own pace. I am still doing the exercises. They are fantastic. I do them most mornings and they kind of set the mood of the day. They are constantly challenging so every morning is different. They made a difference almost at once and nowadays I am much stronger, my posture has radically improved and I go in and out where once it was straight down! The exercises also release emotional "stuff" held in the body.
I really recommend this book.

The book is clearly written and illustrated, and I would highly recommend the exercises. I have been doing them almost continuously for just over 2 years and I have definitely found benefits in increased stamina, strength, energy levels, and mental focus. Some deeper explanation of the positions would be welcome - why do they have the names they do for example. Also, in the preface the author's teacher states that Stephanie Wright learned the 'complete system' - some info on this would be interesting.

I had the fortune of Stephanie teaching me Kum Nye in London 4 years ago and have done it every morning since. It is amazing. I use to wake up sleepy and need a coffee, now I have to get up and do my Kum Nye as soon as I wake as the heat running through my body is too much to bear. I even did it in labour which was a challenge but helpful! Good luck to all who start it and continue to do it.

I have been following Stephanie's stretches/exercises for about 18 months, with some days off. I don't do them long enough, spend about 10 minutes probably. I can really feel the stretches in all my muscles these days and my shape has really changed. Tauter arms, thighs, bottom. If I'd done it for the 16-20 mins a day I'd probably have got on better quicker, but you know, ... no time ... Would recommend this highly.
